Every year since 2021, FXV Digital Design, Inc. has hosted an ice cream social. The purpose always being to host an event we can all hang out and smile at. Who doesn’t like ice cream?!
With networking always being about business and 30-second commercials, I wanted to be able to veer away from the norm. Ice cream is a simple treat everyone loves, and it tends to put us all in a happy mood. Why not be a kid for a couple of hours and have good ol’ small talk with people you know, or may be even people you’ve never met.
I was fortunate enough to meet Lisa Tiger for the very first time at my most recent social, and I felt like a fan boy! She walked up to me and I literally said, “Holy S**t! Lisa Tiger!”
Thankfully, Lisa laughed it off and we spoke for a bit. I learned that she had her very own advertising agency a few years back. This makes total sense because I love her branding and was always inspired by her elevation – especially at the local level. We plan on getting together real soon and discussing all things branding and marketing – and that’s what it’s all about!
I benefit so much more from relationships than referrals. The money will come. The business will come. But if you want to truly measure your wealth, scroll through your contacts and make a list of how many you can call in the drop of a hat and get together.
If it’s short, get courageous and ask a fellow peer to join you for a scoop of ice cream. Discuss things that create motivation, allow you to breathe, and define who you are. Those moments you spend with a person allow you to be open and transparent about anything and everything, creating trust. Once you have that between each other, the possibilities are endless.
