Carrying the Weight and Finding the Strength

Being a small business owner has its perks. Can I “do whatever I want,” as most people say? Sure, technically. Does that ever happen? Not at all. If you want your business to succeed, you do what others won’t – that ends up being the difference.

I’m proud of what I’ve built, the team I’ve assembled, and the client relationships I’ve curated over the past 25-plus years. However, it all comes at a cost, and this giant squash you see me holding serves as a playful reminder of what that is.

As a small business owner, the weight of the world seems to be constantly on my shoulders. Endless to-do lists, constant decision-making, pivoting to keep up with modern trends, and the never-ending pressure to always keep pushing forward. It never ends.

But here’s the truth – you’re stronger than you realize.

That weight? It’s proof of your strength, your passion, and your commitment to yourself and everything you’ve ever dreamed of. Every step you take towards success, no matter how heavy and overwhelming, is helping you build something meaningful.

But you’re not alone in this fight, and you don’t need to carry this all on your own. Learn to lean on your community, share your challenges, and lift those who need to hear it. I can’t even count the number of times that I’ve been under extreme weight, yet I found the time to help those who needed it. In a sort of way, it helped me to help others.

So take a deep breath, keep going, and know that it’s going to be okay. You’ve got this.
